"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health even as thy soul prospereth." 3 John 2 Humble in character, anointed, prayerful and established in integrity connotes the description of Bishop Benjamin P. Collins. Born August 4, 1949 in Newnan, Georgia. He received his early formal training through the public schools of Newnan and Talbatton, Georgia. Bishop Collins graduated with honors from Ruth Carter High School in Talbatton, Georgia. He furthered his education at Paine College, Augusta, Georgia and the International Bible Institute and Seminary of Plymouth, Florida where he received a Doctorate of Theology.Bishop Collins was saved in 1970 at the Augusta Deliverance Evangelistic Church. He later joined the Church of God in Christ in 1972. Bishop Collins was ordained by the late Bishop J. Howard Dell in August 1974. He served as Associate Minister for two years under Bishop Dell’s ministry where he received much of his ministerial training. Bishop Collins progressed as a leader on the local, jurisdictional, and national level and has served with honor, dignity, and distinction. On the jurisdictional level, he served as president of the Department of Evangelism, Chairman of Ordination Board, Department of Y.P.W.W., Jurisdictional Secretary, and First Administrative Assistant. On the national level, Bishop Collins served as Vice Chairman of the COGIC Media Ministry, Assistant to the late Bishop C. D. Kinzie, COGIC Men’s Ministry, Secretary of the COGIC National Jurisdictional Extension Committee and he served five years as a Regional National Evangelist under Bishop Paige. Bishop Collins presently serves as Coordinator of the National Pastors and Elders Institute, member of C.O.G.I.C. Training Institute and member of the Executive Advisory Board C.O.G.I.C. National General Assembly, member of the Board of Bishop’s Executive Committee, serves as Administrative Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Bishops, Secretary of the Board of Bishop’s Conference Committee and recently he has been given the opportunity to serves as Coordinator of Executive Services for the COGIC Executives. Bishop Collins has founded three churches. He is presently Pastor and Founder of the Bread of Life Church of God in Christ, Savannah, Georgia. On July 14, 1997, during a special call meeting by the new Presiding Bishop Chandler D. Owens, Bishop Collins was appointed Jurisdictional Bishop of the Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southeast Georgia. In conclusion, Bishop Collins is a man of foresight and perception. He has a shepherd’s heart and he is seasoned and cultivated by the Word of God. Bishop Collins has been called, chosen, committed and challenged to fulfill the plan of God for his life, which is hid in Christ. Simplistically, it is the desire of Bishop Collins to do the will of the Lord and to live a life that is pleasing in His sight. |
